Reserve Meeting

The next Reserve Meeting is scheduled for June 5, 2019 at 12 PM (noon) in the Houston crew room. Your Reserve Committee will be available to answer your questions and discuss your concerns. Please feel free to share the meeting date and location with your fellow Reserves.

  

WANTED! Council 42 Committee Chairs and Members

Council 42 is currently accepting resumes for our Local Committee Leadership.  We are looking for flight attendants to commit to serve the new term beginning July 1, 2019-June 30, 2022.  

For more information or to submit your resume, send an e-mail to cmills@unitedafa.org. Indicate “LEC Committees” in the subject line.  All resumes must be received by June 1st for consideration.

The following positions are open:

Communications: Responsible for LEC communications including the LEC Website - houstonunited.org, the newsletter, and other special publications. *1 Chairperson/Newsletter and 1 Chairperson/Website-Social Media.

Contract Education: This Committee is responsible for working with the Council 42 Officers and Grievance Team to educate and answer questions on our JCBA.  *1 Chairperson

EAP/Professional Standards: The Association of Flight Attendants Employee Assistance Program (AFA EAP) is a confidential resource available to Members, their families and their partners to assist with personal, as well as work-related concerns.* 2 Chairpersons and 2-3 members.

FML/OJI: The Council 42 Benefits Committee is knowledgeable in present contractually provided insurance, retirement programs and in current contractually provided occupational benefits (OJI). * 1 Chairperson/OJI and 1 Chairperson/FML

Government Affairs: Government Affairs and FlightPAC  are designed to represent AFA's lobbying and political action efforts. Our grassroots activities are intended to educate elected officials about aviation issues to ensure they are aware of our views.*1 Chairperson and 2-3 members

Grievance: This Committee’s primary objective is to enforce the Contract and protect all Flight Attendants against arbitrary and unjust disciplinary action. *1 Chairperson

Hotel: This Committee works closely with the MEC Hotel Committee and investigates Flight Attendant complaints regarding layover hotels, transportation and crew lounge issues to ensure maintained Contract compliance or attention to decline in such requirements. *1 Chairperson

Local Scheduling: This committee works with the Central Scheduling Committee and builds lines each month.  *1 Chairperson and 5-8 members

Reserve: This Committee deals with issues affecting Reserves. This committee is also responsible to work with the Council 42 Officers and the company in resolving problems, as well as working with the MEC Grievance Committee to resolve system-wide Reserve violations. *2 Co-Chairs and 5-10 Reserve Flight Attendant members

Safety, Health, Security: The Committee works with UAL, the MEC, and AFA-CWA International Air Safety, Health & Security Department to maintain and improve Flight Attendant safety, health, and cabin safety standards. *1 Chair and 1 Vice-Chairperson
