Brazil Prohibits Personal Pillows

Date: August 12, 2020

Flight Attendants flying to Brazil should be aware that the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) has issued a regulation prohibiting the use of United Polaris pillows, including the cooling gel pillows, economy pillows, and the use of personal pillows on all operational segments, including passenger and cargo flights. Flight Attendants that bring your own pillow are being asked to leave their personal pillow at the base to avoid any issues when entering Brazil.

The company will temporarily provide a crew rest pack until an alternative solution can be provided. The pack will include the following:

  • 2 linen sheets
  • 2 United Polaris duvets instead of the normal 2 linen sheets
  • 1 duvet
  • 1 large cased pillow

Questions can be directed to your Local Safety Health and Security Committee.
